John M. McMahon is president of PAC (Peru, Argentina and Chile) of NII Holdings, Inc., a leading provider of mobile communications for business customers in Latin America. With operations in Brazil, Mexico, Argentina, Peru and Chile, NII is a Fortune 500 company, trades on the NASDAQ market under the symbol NIHD and is a member of the NASDAQ-100 index.
Mr. McMahon is responsible for the management and operation of the Peru, Argentina and Chile markets and all post sale customer support functions, which includes overseeing customer care, order fulfillment, and service and repair.
Mr. McMahon served as executive vice president of business operations of NII and vice president of finance and business operations, north region, for Nextel Communications, Inc. In this capacity, he was responsible for developing and managing all budgets and financial reporting associated with the 3,000 employee division. He was also charged with handling all fulfillment and handset service and repair functions within the north region. Prior to joining Nextel Communications, Mr. McMahon served as vice president of financial planning and analysis with Shearson Smith Barney at their world headquarters in New York. As a senior lead in the department, he was responsible for coordinating and reporting financial data to the senior leadership team in the company. He was also tasked with leading an internal audit team aimed at decreasing costs and increasing efficiencies throughout the Shearson organization.
From 1986 to 1991, Mr. McMahon held various positions in finance and operations at Shearson Lehman Brothers and EF Hutton.
Mr. McMahon received a bachelor of science in finance from the State University of New York, along with a master’s degree in finance from Fordham University.
